1. Who we are
The Voice of Kannadiga is an independent Kannada-language digital news and commentary publication based in Hubballi, Karnataka, India. For any privacy question, contact us at editorial@thevoiceofkannadiga.com.
2. Information we collect
- Information you give us: when you subscribe to our newsletter we collect your first name, last name and email address; when you email us we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include; when you comment on an article we collect the name, email address and comment you submit.
- Information collected automatically: like most websites, our server and the services described below may record your IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, referring page and the date and time of your visit.
- Cookies and similar technologies: small files stored in your browser that help the Site work, remember preferences, measure traffic and (where applicable) show advertising.
3. How we use information
- To publish and deliver our articles and keep the Site secure and working properly.
- To send the newsletter you signed up for. You can unsubscribe at any time by using the link in any newsletter email or by writing to us.
- To reply to messages, story tips and correction requests.
- To understand, in aggregate, which content readers find useful.
- To display advertising that helps fund our journalism.

7. Comments
If you leave a comment, the comment, your name, email address, IP address and browser user-agent string are stored to help with moderation and spam detection. If you choose, your name and email can be saved in a cookie so you do not have to re-enter them. An anonymised string created from your email address may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you have a profile picture.
8. Managing cookies
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the Site work. Opting out of personalised advertising does not remove advertising; you may still see non-personalised ads.
9. Data retention and security
Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Emails and correction requests are kept only as long as needed to respond and maintain editorial records. Comments and their metadata may be retained indefinitely. We use reasonable technical measures (such as HTTPS encryption) to protect information, but no method of transmission over the Internet is completely secure.
10. Your rights
Subject to applicable law — including India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and, where applicable, the EU/UK GDPR or California privacy laws — you may ask us to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, or withdraw consent you have given (for example, to the newsletter). 11. Children
The Site is intended for a general adult audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
